Inside the over-the-top birthday party Lionel Messi threw for wife Antonela Roccuzzo at Miami hotspot
Soccer superstar Lionel Messi spoiled his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, with a lavish birthday party at Miami hotspot Gekko over the weekend.
Page Six has exclusively learned the visibly “happy” married couple walked into the Japanese steakhouse — co-owned by Bad Bunny and restauranteur David Grutman — holding hands and showcased their love for one another all night long on Saturday.
“They were dancing together and he was very affectionate toward his wife,” a source tells us. “They both had a great time.”
Roccuzzo, who turned 36 on Feb. 26, rang in her belated birthday celebration with a form-fitting strapless dress by Yves Saint Laurent ($4,500) that accentuated her fit physique.
Messi, also 36, meanwhile, wore a black T-shirt, black pants and a beige Prada button-down shirt.
The Argentinian soccer player was fresh off of helping his team, Inter Miami, win against Orlando City.
Earlier on Saturday, he scored two out of the five goals that helped lead the soccer club to victory.
We’re told Messi did not appear tired at all at his wife’s party, though, as he was even seen jumping behind the DJ booth at one point, where his pal, Argentine producer Bizarrap, was spinning tunes.
We’re told Roccuzzo, who has been married to Messi since 2017 and shares three kids — Thiago, 11, Mateo, 8, and Ciro, 5 — with him, concluded her birthday celebration with a four-tiered floral cake.
Fellow restaurant guests got a sneak peek at the party as we’re told fans were seen “recording” Messi, his wife and fellow soccer stars Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez.
“Anyone who was at Gekko lounge was able to visibly see them dancing, jumping and partying the whole night,” a source says before noting fans weren’t able to actually approach the stars because of “security.”
Messi and his group were fortunately able to avoid an incident like the one that took place last August involving an “aggressive” patron.
An unnamed Gekko diner claimed at the time that he was trying to snap a selfie during his daughter’s 21st birthday, but bodyguards mistakenly thought he was trying to sneak a pic of Roccuzzo.
“They jumped at us; they kicked me out and punched me in the face,” the man alleged to the Daily Mail.

“Just because my homeboy was trying to take a picture with his wife, not with Beckham or Messi, nothing. It was a family thing.”
However, a rep for Gekko exclusively told Page Six at the time that the “intoxicated guest was overbearingly taking photos of fellow guests and was asked to stop.”
Messi has been living in Miami over the past year ever since he signed a mega-deal with Inter Miami that includes compensation from both Adidas and Apple.
The legendary footballer has drawn many A-listers to his matches, including Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams, LeBron James and more.
He was recently seen walking out onto the soccer field at Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles holding Kardashian’s son Saint’s hand.
