How Manchester City can win the treble in 2022/23

Manchester City have hit their imperious best at exactly the right time as they target success on multiple fronts towards the end of the 2022/23 season.

Pep Guardiola's side have been chasing Arsenal in the Premier League all campaign in England's top flight and have closed the gap enough to ensure a frantic end to the title race.

That's not the only piece of silverware on offer, however. The Citizens are still going strong in the Champions League and have enjoyed a dominant run in the FA Cup, too.

Here's the state of play for City as they aim to win a proper treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Premier League

The arrival of Erling Haaland seemed to usher in a new level of dominance for City as the massive Norwegian set record after record at the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

However, they failed to match the consistency of Arsenal for much of the campaign. It's only late in the piece that City's experience and the Gunners' lack of it has shown.

The two sides face off soon in the Premier League in a fixture which will go a long way to deciding the title race. Aside from that, City have few tough fixtures on paper, though a league game with Brighton does need to be rearranged.

When is the last weekend of the 2022/23 Premier League season?

The final matchday of the 2022/23 Premier League season will take place on Sunday 28 May. Man City have to go to Brentford on the final day, while Arsenal host Wolves.

Champions League

City have been close to faultless throughout their Champions League campaign, though have been held to some frustrating draws.

Guardiola's side were surprisingly kept to goalless draws by both Kobenhavn - a side they'd beaten 5-0 at home on the previous matchday - and Bundesliga title contenders Borussia Dortmund.

There have been thumping wins over the likes of Sevilla and RB Leipzig, while the 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarter-final tie felt like a statement to the rest of Europe.

When is the 2022/23 Champions League final?

The 2022/23 Champions League final will take place on 10 June 2023 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

FA Cup

Man City were given a couple of high profile fixtures to begin their FA Cup campaign, easily beating a Chelsea side in disarray, before edging past title rivals Arsenal 1-0.

Further emphatic wins came over Championship opposition Bristol City and Burnley, the latter of which presented a reunion with City legend Vincent Kompany. They are yet to concede a goal in the tournament this season.
