The Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros meet Tuesday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park. Here’s a Houston Astros vs Boston Red Sox prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Astros vs Red Sox pick.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Over the weekend the Red Sox took on the rival Baltimore Orioles. Boston was able to win two out of those four Games for a stalemate. On Monday versus Houston, the Sox took a tough walk-off loss 5-4. Tanner Houck put up 6.0 innings and two earned in the start.

In the starter slot for Tuesday the Red Sox are going with Nick Pivetta. This year Pivetta is 5-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 19 starts. Pivetta is 55-67 with a 4.82 ERA in 215 career Games (171 starts).

Houston Astros Betting Preview

Over on the Astros’ side, they played the Chicago White Sox in their last series. Houston lost the opener of that set but won the other two games. On Monday the Astros got the walk-off win courtesy of Yainer Diaz. Starter Yusei Kikuchi lasted 5.2 innings with two earned runs.

Starter for Tuesday will be Ronel Blanco. So far Blanco is 9-6 with a 2.89 ERA in 23 starts. In 47 career Games (30 starts) Blanco is 11-7 with a 3.46 ERA.

Houston Astros vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’ll lean toward Houston. This should be a pretty good matchup, though. Blanco is just 0-1 in his last three starts but he hasn’t been pitching too badly. In that time Blanco has four earned in 15.0 total frames. As for Pivetta, he’s got eight earned runs in 16.1 total innings over his last three starts, going 1-1 in that time.

On Tuesday the Astros came back from deficits of 2-0 and 4-2 to bag the win. The 13 team hits were nice, as were the last couple arms in the bullpen (Caleb Ferguson and Josh Hader). I like Houston to keep it up in Game two.
