Here’s Who Has Endorsed Kamala Harris for President So Far

President Joe Biden made the historic decision to drop out of the presidential race on Sunday, just 107 days before he was set to face former President Donald Trump in the general election.

Moments after announcing that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential election, Biden posted his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris to X—formerly Twitter.

Harris declared her candidacy for President soon after his endorsement. In a statement issued through the Biden-Harris campaign, she thanked Biden, promised to build on his legacy, and vowed to “earn and win” the Democratic nomination.

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” she wrote in the statement, parts of which she shared on X.

Here’s a roundup of who has endorsed Harris’ bid for presidency:

Bill and Hillary Clinton

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee for President Hillary Clinton posted a joint statement on X following Biden’s announcement and his endorsement. They endorsed Harris for President and wrote that “we will do whatever we can to support her,”  particularly as “nothing has made [them] more worried” for the country than “the threat posed by a second Trump term.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who had on Friday urged her followers to reconsider replacing Biden, posted on X on Sunday in support of Harris: “Kamala Harris will be the next President of the United States. I pledge my full support to ensure her victory in November.”

“Now more than ever, it is crucial that our party and country swiftly unite to defeat Donald Trump and the threat to American democracy,” she wrote. “Let’s get to work.”

Gavin Newsom

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, the rising political star who has in recent weeks been a fierce defender of Biden, endorsed Harris in a post on X: “With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump's dark vision and guide our country in a Healthier direction than America’s Vice President, @KamalaHarris.”

J.B. Pritzker

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who people had previously speculated might vie for the Democratic nomination should Biden drop out of the presidential race, endorsed Harris in a post on X on Monday morning. 

“Vice President Harris has proven, at every point in her career, that she possesses the skills, strength, and character to lead this country and the vision to better the lives of all Americans,” Pritzker wrote. “She represents our Party’s best chance to defeat Donald Trump in November, and I will work my heart out to help her do that.”

He added that “it’s past time we shatter that highest and hardest of glass ceilings” and elect a woman as President.

Josh Shapiro

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro lent his support and endorsement to Harris in a statement posted to X. The two have known each other for two decades—they both served as Attorneys General for their respective home states—and Shapiro said that Harris “is a patriot worthy of our support.”

“The contrast in this race could not be clearer and the road to victory in November runs right through Pennsylvania – where this collective work began,” Shapiro captioned his post. “I will do everything I can to help elect @KamalaHarris as the 47th President of the United States.”

Roy Cooper

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper shared that he has known Harris since their days as Attorneys General, and that she “has what it takes to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country thoughtfully and with integrity.”

“I look forward to campaigning for her as we work to win NC up and down the ticket,” he wrote on X.

Pete Buttigieg

Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation and former mayor of South Bend, Ind., voiced his support for Harris in a post on X, as speculations swirl around Harris’ Vice Presidential pick—among which Buttigieg has emerged as one of the top contenders. 

“Joe Biden has earned his place among the best and the most consequential presidents in our History,” he wrote. “Kamala Harris is now the right person to take up the torch, defeat Donald Trump, and succeed Joe Biden as President.”

Stacey Abrams

Former Georgia Rep. Stacey Abrams, who lost her bids for governor in 2018 and 2022 but has remained a prominent activist and figure in the Democratic Party, shared on X that she has known Harris “for a long time.”

“She’s a tenacious fighter, a champion for our rights & defender of our democracy. United, she will lead us as we defeat Donald Trump this November,” she wrote on X. “I am proud to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as our Democratic nominee. Let’s go!”

Jared Polis

“Americans want to turn the page,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis wrote in a statement on X. “I am thrilled to support Vice President Harris—Kamala has a vision of hope and a future we all can believe in.”

Polis ended his statement with three emojis—a coconut, a palm tree, and the U.S. flag—a cheeky reference to the memes that sprouted around Harris’ campaign.

Elizabeth Warren

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote a statement of support for the President, as well as an endorsement for Harris on social media, stating that Harris “can unite our party, take on Donald Trump, and win in November.”

“She is a proven fighter who has been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to abortion,” she wrote. “As a former prosecutor, she can press a forceful case against allowing Donald Trump to regain the White House.” 

John Kerry 

The former Secretary of State under the Obama administration, who now works as climate envoy for the U.S., wrote on X:

“For democracy, alliances, economic fairness, and the future of our planet, now is the time to listen to the only person who has ever beaten Donald Trump, and join with President Biden in every effort to make Vice President Harris the next President of the United States. No citizen of good conScience should stay on the sidelines.”

Tammy Baldwin

Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin shared her endorsement of Harris on X, stating “today is a new beginning for our party and our country.”

Jared Moskowitz 

Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz kept his endorsement short and to the point: “I hereby endorse Kamala Harris! That's the tweet.”

Maxwell Frost

Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost, the youngest member of Congress and the first member of Generation Z elected to Congress, endorsed Harris on X, accompanied by a picture of the two shaking hands.

“Let’s get to work to defeat Trump and reject fascism,” he wrote

Katie Porter

Rep. Katie Porter, a California Democrat, endorsed Harris on X,  pointing to her time working with Harris as California Monitor during the foreclosure crisis in 2008, back when Harris served as Attorney General of California.

“I saw up close how she took on tough fights to deliver for everyday people,” Porter wrote. “She’s fearless, and she’s ready to lead as president.”

Martin Luther King III

Martin Luther King III, son of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., posted a statement of endorsement from him and his wife Arndrea Waters King. They wrote that Harris “will shatter a significant glass ceiling by becoming the first Black woman and first South Asian nominee from a major party for President” and that she has demonstrated commitment to what King’s father stood for: “a world built on peace, justice, and equity.”

Gabby Giffords

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords, now an activist fighting for gun control, posted her support for Harris on social media, stating that the Vice President will “make a great president, and her strong, steadfast leadership will save lives.” She states that she and her husband will “do everything we can to ensure she is elected in November.”

Ted Lieu

California Rep. Ted Lieu sent his support for Harris in a post, accompanied by photos of the two together on Air Force Two, which he says he flew in last week with the Vice President. 

“Next year Kamala Harris will be on Air Force One,” he wrote.

Adam Schiff

Current California Rep. Adam Schiff, who is running for Senate, concluded his supporting statement to Biden on X with a resounding endorsement of Harris. 

“The stakes are high, and we must focus all our energy on electing Kamala Harris and defeating Donald Trump,” he wrote.

Annie Kuster

In a statement on X, the New Hampshire Representative said that she endorsed Harris to “to lead Democrats in this fight to defend our personal freedoms and reproductive rights, protect our democracy, and defeat Donald Trump and his extreme MAGA Republicans this coming fall.”

EMILYs List

EMILYs List, a PAC focused on supporting Democratic female candidates, endorsed Harris in a statement on X. “She is the only candidate positioned to win against Trump in November, and the best voice to define the stakes in this election,” the statement said. 

Congressional Black Caucus PAC

History in the making!” reads a statement by CBCPAC endorsing Harris, which also described her as “a champion of democracy, equality, and progress.”

Priorities USA Action

Priorities USA Action, the largest Democratic Party super PAC that had supported the campaigns of Obama, Clinton, and Biden, wrote on X that it “stands behind” Harris. “She is the best candidate to beat Donald Trump this November,” it said.
