Harry Kane sends goal warning to Real Madrid before Champions League clash
Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has admitted he is hopeful of scoring a few goals in their Champions League semi-final first leg meeting with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Bayern picked up their fourth win on the trot on Saturday thanks to Kane's two strikes in a 2-1 success over Eintracht Frankfurt, improving their buffer over third-place Stuttgart to five points having lost out on the title to Bayer Leverkusen.
Kane has enjoyed a goal-laden first season in Bavaria even while his uncertain search for a first club trophy continues, taking his league tally up to 35 strikes for 2023/24 at the weekend. The England captain has also now scored 400 goals in his senior career for club and country.
However, the Champions League is Bayern's only hope of silverware at the end of the campaign and they face a Madrid side comfortably top of La Liga that ousted Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
Kane, though, was in a confident mood after netting twice in Saturday's win over Frankfurt.
He told reporters: "How many goals will I score against Real Madrid? A few, hopefully. I'm in a good mood and confident. If my colleagues serve me like they have all season, then I'll be there."
Bayern's campaign under Thomas Tuchel, who will leave the Allianz Arena in the summer, has been punctuated with embarrassing lows while Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen ran away with the title. They were beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup back in August and exited the DFB-Pokal in the second round after a late defeat to FC Saarbrucken.
Tuchel also has a number of injury concerns to deal with in the build-up to Tuesday's Game. Jamal Musiala wasn't part of the matchday squad on Saturday, while Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Dayot Upamecano were also absent from proceedings.
