Lewis Hamilton will wear a rainbow-liveried helmet at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix in response to Florida's Governor signing the Parental Rights in Education Act.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill, which prevents 'discussion or instruction' on "sexual orientation" or "gender identity" in schools, into state law at the end of March.

Hamilton has previously spoken about a variety of equality issues, and has previously worn race helmets adorning the rainbow colours, including at the 2021 race in Qatar.

When asked about the Governor's decision to sign the act, Hamilton revealed his decision to respond with a rainbow-liveried helmet in Miami.

"I have read about some of the decisions that have been made in government here, and I do not agree with it, and I do not support it," Hamilton told media, including TheFOXposts.Com.

"I really do continue to stand with the LGBTQ community, and I'm wearing the rainbow flag on my helmet this weekend, and I just really want to continue to support the community here and let them know that I stand with them, and I hope that they continue to fight against it.

"It's not the people of Miami that are making these decisions, it's the people in government, and that's the issue.

"The sport is going to be here, whether I am or not, so whilst I'm here I'm just going to try to continue to be supportive, and just by being here and having that on my helmet, hopefully that that speaks volumes."
