Gimme’ Shelter: Meet Derby – at the Cranston Animal Shelter

We have a wonderful dog available for adoption. His name is Derby! 

Derby was found as a stray and desperately needed someone to trust. He quickly learned the staff at Cranston Animal Shelter were just the right people he needed! Almost overnight, Derby blossomed and showed shelter staff his true self – a lovable, friendly, goofy boy!

He is estimated to be about 5-7 years old but still has a lot of spunk in him. He’s fast as can be and loves to run – he would really make an excellent running buddy. Derby will do just about anything for a treat: sit, give paw, lay down, stay and is so gentle when taking treats.

It is unknown how he would be with cats or other dogs, but we think he would be OK with children over the age of 15.

About the Cranston Animal Shelter

The Cranston Animal Shelter, which houses stray cats and dogs along with homeless Pets, is located at 920 Phenix Avenue. The staff can be reached at (401)-464-8700.

Public Hours are Tuesday through Friday: 12pm-4pm, and Saturday from 11am-3pm.

Sunday and Monday: The Shelter is closed to the public, however, there is an Animal Control Officer on duty to clean, feed, and answer Animal Control calls from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Adoptions: All adoption applications are to be completed at the shelter with our Adoption Coordinator. Adoption Fees are required and are as followed:  
Dogs $300 (Includes microchip) 
Cats $150
Kittens $175
Microchips are an additional $50

Adoption Fees are only payable by money order!
