Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers
August 4, 2024 2:35 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a FanDuel perspective.

Before we dive into the Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single Game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single Game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for this afternoon’s Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Rafael Devers, Third Baseman, Boston Red Sox $9,500

On Sunday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the final Game of a three Game American League series between the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s Major League Baseball game? The Boston Red Sox arrive at this evening’s third game of this three game American League series with the Texas Rangers playing below average baseball. Let me be more specific. The Boston Red Sox have lost nine of the team’s last 14 games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including an embarrassing 11-1 loss to the San Diego Padres last week.

Similar to the Boston Red Sox, the Texas Rangers are also not playing good baseball entering tonight’s contest. The Rangers have lost six of the team’s last eight games played this season, including an 11-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals four days ago.

It should also be noted that the Texas Rangers defeated the Boston Red Sox 7-4 in last night’s second game of this three game National League series.

Now that we have determined how both of these American League teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this evening’s contest. Boston third baseman Rafael Devers continues to be an important part of the Boston Red Sox lineup this season. In his last four games played for the Red Sox in 2024, Rafael Devers accumulated nine hits, five runs scored, and one walk in 19 plate appearances.

Star-Jarren Duran, Outfielder, Boston Red Sox $9,000

Talented Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has certainly established himself as one of the best hitters in the American League in 2024. Let’s review Duran’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In his last eight Games played for the Boston Red Sox in the 2024 MLB regular season, Boston outfielder Jarren Duran accumulated a robust 13 hits (two home runs), seven runs scored, and two walks in 41 plate appearances. Clearly, Jarren Duran is swinging the bat well for the Boston Red Sox entering tonight’s Game with the Texas Rangers.

Flex plays I like to play well this evening (FanDuel price noted): Marcus Semien, Second Baseman (Texas Rangers) $7,500: Corey Seager, Shortstop (Texas Rangers) $8,500.
