Evan Ferguson: Best FPL forwards to replace injury doubt Brighton striker

Over 325,000 FPL managers have transferred Evan Ferguson in this week after his hat-trick against Newcastle United before the international break, but they may be regretting that decision now.

The Brighton & Hove Albion forward is a doubt for the trip to Manchester United this weekend having suffered a knee injury, and while Roberto De Zerbi is hopeful the 18-year-old will be involved, there is no guarantee he will feature at Old Trafford.

At only £6.0m, Ferguson is a no-brainer pick, but that will quickly change if he is to face a spell on the sidelines for the Seagulls.

If you're in any doubt over what to do with Ferguson, here are some forwards you can replace him with.

Beto - Everton

As we are assuming you have no funds in the bank and therefore are only recommending players who are £6.0m or under, you could do a lot worse than new Everton striker Beto.

While the Toffees are not famed for scoring goals and face Arsenal and Brentford in their next two, Beto's lively start to life at Everton means he could be a good differential.

The former Udinese forward scored on his debut against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup and also looked lively during his Premier League bow against Sheffield United. His mixture of pace and power will make him a handful for defenders and he will likely thrive in Sean Dyche's direct system.

At £6.0m, Beto is only owned by 0.2% of managers, potentially giving you an edge in your mini-leagues.

Eddie Nketiah - Arsenal

Nketiah offers a cheap way into the Arsenal attack who has already accumulated 20 points in four games for the Gunners. His last outing against Manchester United was the first time he had failed to return all season, having secured two assists and a goal so far this campaign.

The only doubt over Nketiah is his game time. The return of Gabriel Jesus - who scored against Man Utd from the bench - and the presence of Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz means the English forward is not a guaranteed starter.

However, at £5.6m and with an ownership of just 6.8%, he could be a gem if he continues to earn regular minutes.

Odsonne Edouard - Crystal Palace

Having produced a 13-point haul against Wolverhampton Wanderers just before the international break, Edouard could be an incredibly underrated FPL asset.

Three goals already this season has contributed to a total of 24 points, with an average of six per game. The Palace man's starting spot looks pretty assured too as he has played 70 minutes or more in every game this season in the league.

While the Eagles don't have the easiest run of fixtures - they face Aston Villa, Man Utd and Newcastle United in their next five - upcoming home games against Fulham and Sheffield United still make him a good option, especially at £5.5m.

Carlton Morris - Luton Town

We all love a double Gameweek, with the first of the season already rapidly approaching. It is, however, only a double Gameweek for Luton and Burnley, which makes Morris a very interesting choice up front.

Luton's next four fixtures are all rated at two on FPL's fixture difficulty gauge with clashes against Fulham, Wolves, Everton and Burnley on the horizon.

Morris is only £5.5m and has an ownership of just 1.7% despite returning a goal and an assist already this season. The strike he converted was from the penalty spot too, another bonus of having the Hatters man in your squad.

Joao Pedro - Brighton

Why not simply replace a Brighton striker with another Brighton striker?

With Ferguson and Danny Welbeck doubtful for the trip to Man Utd, Pedro is pretty much nailed-on to start at Old Trafford. The forward has dropped to £5.4m in price despite having actually risen to £5.6m after gameweek one, so it could be the perfect time to jump on the Pedro train.

The Brazilian is owned by 13.6% of managers too, meaning you could be missing out on a lot of points if he pops off.

Raul Jimenez - Fulham

An option more suited to the risk-takers out there, Jimenez could be a decent short-term replacement for Ferguson.

The Fulham forward has dropped to £5.4m after a slow start to the season, but a home clash with Luton and a trip to Crystal Palace in his next two could yield some returns.

Jimenez bagged a brace over the international break, albeit against Uzbekistan, but his confidence should be high returning to Craven Cottage.

Antoine Semenyo - Bournemouth

A budget enabler who is likely to get some minutes, Semenyo is a good alternative to Ferguson if you're trying to free up some funds.

The Bournemouth striker is only £4.5m but has featured in every game under Andoni Iraola, even producing an assist against West Ham and a goal against Liverpool at Anfield.

Games against Chelsea, Brighton and Arsenal in the next three means he is most likely a bench-warmer, but it's nice to know he will get at least a point most weeks just in case you need him.

Cameron Archer - Sheffield United

Having finally made the switch from Aston Villa to Sheffield United this summer, Archer has suddenly become a potentially invaluable FPL asset.

The £4.5m forward, who is still only owned by 5.9% of managers, produced a stunning 12-point haul in his first game of the season with the Blades, scoring and getting a classic FPL assist for a Jordan Pickford own goal.

With games against Tottenham and Newcastle up next, Archer is likely to offer the same purpose as Semenyo, but with a greater potential for points.
