Endrick scores for Brazil against England: how many international goals has he scored?
Endrick came off the bench to score for Brazil in their friendly victory against England at Wembley Stadium. The 17-year-old is set to join Real Madrid this summer and was making his first appearance in Europe.
The Game was played at a fast pace but remained goalless until late in the second half when Brazil finally found the breakthrough. A clever ball over the top released Vinicius Jr running through on goal. His effort was saved by Jordan Pickford but Endrick was on hand to poke the ball home from close range.
Endrick does not turn 18 until later this year and, currently aged 17 years and 246 days, he is now the youngest male to score an international goal at Wembley Stadium. The young star came close again in the dying seconds but was denied by Pickford.
That goal will be a memorable one for the young Brazilian; Endrick’s goal against England is his first in international soccer.
Brazil are embarking on a new era under new head coach Dorival Junior. Endrick scored the first goal of the new boss’ reign and will have given Dorival cause to consider him for selection ahead of next week’s game against Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu, which will soon be Endrick’s home stadium.
Life under Dorival Jr starts with a Brazilian victory, something that will be cause for great relief after a chaotic spell for the national team. Tite was sacked after Brazil’s underwhelming performance at the 2022 World Cup and Fernando Diniz was appointed caretaker manager, in the hope that Carlo Ancelotti would be the long-term replacement.
That plan went awry as Ancelotti decided to re-sign for Real Madrid and Diniz floundered in temporary charge, winning just two of his six Games at the helm. Dorival Junior has vast experience in the Brazilian leagues and now, aged 61, has been given the task of bringing about a new era of glory for soccer’s most successful nation.
