Draftkings Open First Round Showdown DFS Picks 7/11/24

This Thursday, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2024 Open Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the 2024 Open Championship will be played.

The first round of the 2024 Open Championship will be played at the Royal Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland. The Golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,058 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

2024 Open Championship Draftkings Picks

Ludvig Aberg $10,000

Ludvig Aberg has quickly ascended to one of the best Golfers on the planet. Let’s take a look at Aberg’s recent finishes to better shed light on my previous statement. Since the beginning of February, Ludvig Aberg has played 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those 12 events just noted, Aberg has accumulated an impressive ten top 25 finishes, including an impressive fourth place result at last week’s 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.

Due to Ludvig’s quality finish at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Aberg fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open, in relation to the field, Ludvig Aberg ranked 12th in strokes gained approach (0.868), 15th in strokes gained putting (1.120), and 19th in driving distance (310.5 yards).

I certainly like Ludvig Aberg’s chances of posting a quality finish at this week’s 2024 Open Championship.

Tommy Fleetwood $9,300

Tommy Fleetwood arrives at this week’s tournament in rather good form. More specifically, Fleetwood has accumulated three top 20 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the 2024 Travelers Championship four weeks ago.

Tommy Fleetwood certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Since 2017, Fleetwood has played the Open Championship a total of six times. In those six tournaments just mentioned, Tommy Fleetwood accumulated four top 12 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2022 Open Championship.

Tom Kim $8,400

Tom Kim arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event in rather good form. More specifically, Tom Kim has accumulated two top 15 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive second-place result at the 2024 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut four weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2024 Open Championship field, in the last 36 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tom Kim ranks seventh in birdie or better percentage, 12th in total Draftkings points scored, 16th in driving accuracy, and 14th in strokes gained on par fours.
