St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
September 2, 2024 2:10 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers. Let’s take a look at this MLB Game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single Game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one Game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this afternoon’s St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Freddy Peralta, Pitcher, Milwaukee Brewers $12,200

On Monday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three game National League series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The St. Louis Cardinals arrive at this afternoon’s game with the Milwaukee Brewers playing quality baseball. More specifically, the Cardinals have won four of the team’s last five games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including a 6-5 victory over the New York Yankees two days ago.

Similar to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers have been playing good baseball recently. The Brewers have won 12 of the team’s last 17 games played this season, including an 11-3 win over the Oakland Athletics last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these Major League Baseball teams are currently playing let’s shift our attention to today’s game. Milwaukee pitcher Freddy Peralta has certainly established himself as a valuable member of the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation in 2024. Having stated that, how has the Brewers hurler been playing from a statistical standpoint? Let’s review Peralta’s recent game data to answer that question.

In the 27 Games that Freddy Peralta has pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024, Peralta has posted a 3.70 ERA (Earned Run Average), 1.19 WHIP (walks, hits, inning pitched) and added 172 strikeouts while allowing 56 walks.

More recently, in the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 win over the San Francisco Giants five days ago, Milwaukee starting pitcher Freddy Peralta pitched exceptionally well. Peralta pitched 6 quality innings striking out eight San Francisco batters while allowing only two hits and three walks in the Brewers victory over the Giants. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I need to see from a player that I select for the captain position.

I just don’t see a scenario where Peralta plays poorly today. For that specific reason, I am rolling with Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta as my captain for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex Plays

Willy Adames, Shortstop, Milwaukee Brewers $9,200

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames arrives at this afternoon’s game with the Cardinals on the heels of a ten-game hitting streak. In his last seven games played for the Brewers in the 2024 MLB regular season, Milwaukee shortstop Willy Adames tallied nine hits (four home runs), seven runs scored, and two walks in 30 plate appearances.

Additional flex plays I like for today’s game (Draftkings price noted): Andre Pallante, Starting Pitcher (St. Louis Cardinals) $10,200: William Contreras, Catcher (Milwaukee Brewers) $9,800.
