The 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year arrives at this afternoon’s Game with the Los Angeles Clippers playing outstanding basketball from a statistical perspective. In 82 Games played for the Dallas Mavericks this season, Luka Doncic has averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.4 steals a Game.

Additionally, I like the fact that Luka Doncic will be facing a Los Angeles Clippers defense that has struggled defending the point guard position lately. In the last 30 Games played in the NBA, the Clippers are ranked an abysmal 26th in total Draftkings points allowed a Game (52.9) to the center position.

Now the Los Angeles Clippers draw one of the best guards in the NBA. Let’s just say I like Doncic’s chances for success this afternoon. Having stated that, Doncic is a lock as my MVP.

Flex Plays

James Harden $9,200

How well has James Harden played from a statistical standpoint in 2024? In 82 games played this season, Harden has averaged 16.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.1 steals a game.

It should also be noted that talented Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out for this afternoon’s game with the Mavericks. Leonard’s absence should allow Harden to have more opportunities to shoot the basketball more often. In summary, I am rolling with James Harden as one of my flex plays for this one game slate.

Kyrie Irving $10,600

How important is Dallas guard Kyrie Irving to the Mavericks offense? In the Mavericks last two games played, Kyrie Irving has averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 2 steals, and 1.3 blocks a game. I think it’s fair to say that the Dallas Mavericks offense runs through the Dallas guard.

I fully expect Kyrie Irving to continue his outstanding play versus this Los Angeles Clippers team later today.
