The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks will meet in game two of their divisional series this Tuesday from Oracle Park. Arizona took game one in extras, 4-3.

Diamondbacks Preview & Projected Starter

Arizona enters at 57-50 after defeating San Francisco. The Diamondbacks closed a tough month with a divisional win, and they’ll look to steal another in the Bay here Tuesday night. The Arizona offense is scoring 4.34 runs per Game, while batting .257, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.41 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP.

Zac Gallen (11-5, 3.36 ERA, 143 Ks) will get the ball for Arizona. The fifth-year pitcher had a tough time with St. Louis last time out, allowing five runs in 6.1 innings pitched en route to his fifth loss of the season. Gallen regressed a bit last month, but we shouldn’t write him off just yet. Gallen pitched very well in his first matchup with San Francisco, striking out six in 7.2 innings, while holding the Giants to two runs at home, and he’ll attempt to replicate that and bounce back here in the Bay.

DBacks Player Trends & Props

Corbin Carroll plated a run in the game one victory, and he’s posting nice splits of .281/21/58.

Ketel Marte also doubled in a run last night, and after recording a hit in twelve of the last fourteen games, he's first on the team in batting (.295) and hits (114), with seventeen homers and 56 RBI.

Christian Walker is hitless over his last two outings, so he could be due soon, and he’s Arizona’s leader in home runs (22) and RBI (68).

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. produced his first run in nearly two weeks in the win over San Fran, but he’s still posting respectable totals lf 15 homers and 57 runs batted in.

Giants Preview & Projected Starter

San Francisco comes in at 58-49 after losing to Arizona. The Giants dropped their fourth straight game one last night, and they’ll seek better results Tuesday. The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.81 runs per game, while batting .250, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.89 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP.

Alex Cobb (6-3, 2.97 ERA, 100 Ks) was given an extra day of rest and he’ll start Game two for San Francisco. The twelfth-year righty bounced back with a gem across the bridge in Oakland, striking out nine over six scoreless frames, but he criminally didn’t earn the win due to no run support. Cobb has come alive and turned his career around in California over these past three years, and he’ll look to close a strong month of July out here. Cobb has allowed two runs or less in six of eight starts since the beginning of June, and he tossed a 7.1-inning shutout against Arizona back in May.

Giants Player Trends & Props

Mike Conforto brings a four-game hit streak into this contest, and he leads the Giants in RBI (52), with thirteen homers.

J.D Davis has homered in back-to-back series, and he leads SFG in hits (85) and home runs (14), with 52 RBI.

Wilmer Flores went yard in the game one loss, and he’s posting team-leading splits of .298/14/35

Joc Peterson has recorded a hit in six of his previous nine Games, and he’s tallied 37 RBI for the season.

Corey’s Free Pick

Arizona will face a stiff test here in game two with Alex Cobb set to go at home. San Francisco won games and pennants through pitching for years, and Cobb is having a career season here in the Bay.. The first-time All-Star gives SFG a good chance to win every time he goes out, and with division supremacy at stake, I think the hosts capitalize with their most consistent arm on the mound. The Under will be in play with Zac Gallen going on the other side, but let’s back San Francisco getting back into the win column Tuesday night.
