The Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Guardians meet Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Here’s a Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago Cubs prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Guardians vs Cubs pick.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

In their weekend series the Cubs took on the Chicago White Sox. The Cubs managed wins in both those Games, 7-6 and 3-1. On Monday versus Cleveland, the Cubs took a tough 9-8 loss. Starter Shota Imanaga left after 5.0 innings and three earned runs.

In the starter role for Tuesday the Cubs will send out Javier Assad. This year Assad is 5-3 with a 3.24 ERA in 21 starts. Assad is 12-8 with a 3.14 ERA in 62 games (39 starts) in his career.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over on the Guardians’ side, they played the Minnesota Twins over the weekend. Cleveland lost the first two Games 4-2 and 6-3 before bagging wins in the last two 2-1 and 5-3. On Monday the Guardians exhausted an 8-3 lead but ultimately prevailed. Ben Lively put up 3.2 innings with three earned runs in the start.

As starter for Tuesday Cleveland will go with Matthew Boyd in his season debut. Boyd is 44-67 with a 4.94 ERA in 174 career games (160 starts).

Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago Cubs Prediction

I’ll stay with the Cubs. Assad hasn’t been too bad lately. He’s 1-0 over his last three starts, posting six earned in 14.0 innings on 12 hits and six walks during that time. Assad has only gone 4.0 innings in each of his last two outings, though.

On Monday the Cubs fell behind by five runs in the sixth inning. The offense really got going after that but couldn’t make up the deficit. Chicago needs a better bullpen performance (3.0 innings; two earned Monday) in Game two but I think they’re up for it.
