The Kansas City Royals and the Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action from Great American Ballpark. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Cincinnati Reds vs Kansas City Royals Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Kansas City Royals will send out Brady Singer for the start here and is 8-8 with a 3.32 ERA and 130 strikeouts this season. This will be Singer’s second career start against Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Reds will trot out Andrew Abbott for the start here and Abbott is 10-9 with a 3.59 ERA and 110 strikeouts this season. This will be Abbott’s first career start against the Royals.

Kansas City Royals Recap

The Kansas City Royals will try to complete the sweep of the Reds after taking Saturday’s matchup in a 13-1 beatdown over Cincinnati. The series win helped the Reds bounce back from a series loss to the Twins to start the week.

Royals Trying To Hold On In AL Playoff Race

Bobby Witt Jr. leads the Royals with 172 hits including 25 home runs, 90 RBIs and team-highs of 11 triples and 35 doubles with 25 stolen bases and a .351 batting average. Salvador Perez also has 22 home runs with 81 RBIs and 21 doubles. Maikel Garcia has 6 home runs, 49 RBIs and 30 stolen bases along with 5 triples and 21 doubles this season. Vinnie Pasquantino has 27 doubles with 18 homers and 89 RBIs of his own on the year.

Why the Kansas City Royals will win

  • The Reds have lost each of their last seven home games against American League opponents.
  • The road team has won each of the last six games between the Royals and Reds.
  • The Royals have covered the run line each of their last seven road games against NL Central opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Reds have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six home games against American League opponents.

Cincinnati Reds Recap

The Cincinnati Reds come into this one looking to salvage something from this series after falling flat up to this point with just one run in each of their first two losses of this series. The series loss for the Reds meant that Cincinnati would be unable to build on their series sweep of the rival St. Louis Cardinals from earlier in the week.

Reds Trying To Wake Offense Up

Elly De La Cruz leads the Reds with 121 hits, 21 home runs and 52 RBIs with 59 stolen bases along with a .261 batting average as well. Spencer Steer has a team-high 75 RBIs with 26 doubles, 18 home runs and 20 stolen bases while Will Benson also has 17 doubles with 14 stolen bases but also has 131 strikeouts. De La Cruz also has a team-high 164 strikeouts so far this season. Jeimer Candelario also has 23 doubles as well as 20 home runs, 56 RBIs and 95 hits this season for Cincinnati.

Why the Cincinnati Reds will win

  • The Reds have won four of their last five games after playing the previous day.
  • The Royals have lost three of their last four day games against National League opponents following a win.
  • The Reds have covered the run line in five of their last six games following a loss.

Cincinnati Reds vs Kansas City Royals Prediction

I’m on the Royals in this one. The Reds just haven’t shown up in this series and while Andrew Abbott is a rare breed that actually pitches better at hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark, I’m still not sold on him in this matchup. The Royals just crushed another lefty in Nick Lodolo on Saturday and I think the Royals keep the ball rolling and complete the sweep. Give me Kansas City.
