On Saturday night, the Mohegan Sun Arena was the site for another action packed card from CES Boxing. As usual, promoter Jimmy Burchfield delivered a great night of action with ten exciting matches. A capacity crowd was on hand as many of the top comPetitors from around the world stepped into the squared circle to do battle.
In the opening contest, Gabriel Costa defeated Harold Roy by unanimous decision in a heavyweight fight. Nathan Martinez beat Daniel Cornonel by unanimous decision in a flyweight fight. In a welterweight contest, Jeff Gonzalez scored a third round TKO over Yeison Berdugo. Slawomir Bohdziewicz defeated Max Weslei Da Silva in a cruiserweight fight.
The fans were excited to see the hometown favorite, Stevie Jane Coleman, take on Sarah Click. Coleman appeared to be in top physical condition as she made her way to the ring. The fight started off with Coleman dominating her opponent. Then, midway through the first round, Click could no longer continue. This was due to a leg injury she suffered during the round. Coleman was awarded the decision with Click being unable to continue.
In other action, Mike Kimbel remained undefeated scoring a second round KO over Dahvon Shelton in a super lightweight fight. Dominique Griffin beat Carlos Nunez by a majority decision in a super bantamweight fight. Anthony Velazquez and Rashid Stevens left it all in the ring in their super welterweight contest. Nothing was settled with this fight ending in a draw.
The final two bouts were both title matches. The WBC US Silver Super welterweight title was on the line as Chordale Booker knocked out Daniel Aduku in the fourth round of a scheduled eight round contest. In the main event, The WBC US Silver super bantamweight title was up for grabs with Elijah Pierce scoring the win over Tramaine Williams in a unanimous decision.
This was an excellent night of boxing from top to finish. The Mohegan Sun arena has been the site for many great nights of combat Sports action. Saturday night was no exception.
