Celtic in Middle of Major Background Shake Up – Rodgers Confirms

As Celtic navigates through a crucial phase of the season, manager Brendan Rodgers is also casting an eye toward the future, particularly in reshaping the club’s recruitment strategy following the departure of head of recruitment Mark Lawwell earlier this year.

In a recent interview, Rodgers confirmed his active involvement in the ongoing overhaul of Celtic’s scouting and recruitment process. “Yeah, absolutely. I’m a part of that process of course. You’re always thinking short, medium and longer-term, especially when you want to be here for that longer term,” Rodgers told Celtic TV, showing his commitment to the club’s future.

Rodgers’ vision extends beyond immediate team needs, focusing on sustainable growth and development within the club. “I’d love that opportunity to help shape that. I’ve got a lot of experience in the Game,” he added, highlighting his readiness to utilise his extensive experience to guide Celtic’s recruitment efforts.

The ever changing nature of Football is at the forefront of Celtic’s recruitment strategy, with an emphasis on nurturing young talent. The Celtic boss detailed his plans for integrating more young players into the first team, which includes specific roles focused on managing loan players. “We need to take a greater focus on our loan players. We’ll have someone in a role that comes in and works specifically on that and working with those young players and others that are out on loan and helping that pathway into the first-team be clearer. I’m very much a part of that,” he explained.

When asked about the progress in making new appointments, Rodgers reassured that the work is ongoing and that Celtic is quietly efficient about its internal affairs. “We still have some very good staff here that are working, and some staff that we’re looking to bring in behind the scenes, and that will continue.

“We don’t go shouting about it, we’ll tell you, and we’ll be done, but there’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes in order to do that,” Rodgers remarked.

This restructuring comes at a critical time as Celtic’s recent track record in the transfer market has been inconsistent to put it mildly. The need for a revamped approach is clear whether or not they clinch the title this season.
