Carlos Tevez rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pains
Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is in a "satisfactory" condition after being rushed to hospital with chest pains.
Tevez was taken to a clinic in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Buenos Aires on Tuesday, where he stayed the night ahead of undergoing further medical tests.
The 40-year-old is currently the head coach of Argentine top-flight outfit Independiente - a position he took in August 2023 on a short-term deal before earning a contract extension that runs until December 2026.
A statement from the club on Tevez's condition read: "Our coach, Carlos Tevez, went to the La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro with chest pain. They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory. Today he will continue with a series of tests scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up."
Independiente later clarified that Tevez will remain in hospital as a "precaution", with doctors intending to carry out further tests.
Tevez enjoyed a lengthy career at the highest level, representing Argentina 76 times over an 11-year period. After making his name at Corinthians, he surprisingly joined West Ham United in August 2006 alongside fellow countryman Javier Mascherano, but the deal was later found to have broken Premier League regulations in regards to third-party ownership.
A move to Inter fell through before Tevez joined Manchester United in the summer of 2007, on a complicated two-year loan deal. After struggling to earn a regular starting place under Sir Alex Ferguson, he surprisingly joined neighbourhood rivals Manchester City on a five-year contract, at a time when City were starting to attract the best players in the world.
He won a third Premier League title with City - he'd picked up the trophy during both of his seasons at Old Trafford - and went on to score 73 goals in 148 appearances for the club across all comPetitions.
Two goal-laden years at Juventus followed, preceding a lengthy return to Argentina with Boca Juniors that was interspersed with a short spell in the Chinese Super League.
