Brendan Rodgers Gives Kyogo Injury Update
Celtic faced a setback during their match at Easter Road on Sunday, as star striker Kyogo picked up a recurring shoulder injury.
The Japanese international, who is currently the sole recognised striker at Celtic, was involved in a couple of physical challenges that led to his early substitution with 75 minutes on the clock. Kyogo was replaced by Mikey Johnston, who later also had to leave the Game after a head collision.
Post-match, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers provided an update to Sky Sports, explaining, “He had an issue with his shoulder. Obviously, the guys have tried to put it back in but he’s felt the pain. So we didn’t want to risk that, so hopefully he’ll be okay in next couple of days.”
The urgency for additional attacking options was made clear by this incident, especially with ongoing negotiations to secure Norwich City’s Adam Idah, who appeared off the bench in Norwich’s recent loss to Oxford United.
Rodgers is keen on bolstering his squad to avoid similar vulnerabilities in the future.
But it’s not just in the striking department that Celtic needs bodies in, there needs to be at least a left-back and centre-half brought to the club before the window shuts.
