Scotland’s hopes of bouncing back in their Euro 2024 campaign are sparking fiery debates, and none more vocal than Ibrox cheerleader Kris Boyd.

With the team smarting from a brutal 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany, Boyd has called for sweeping changes against Switzerland—pinpointing Celtic’s James Forrest as the key to revitalising Scotland’s fortunes.

Boyd has voiced strong opinions on Steve Clarke’s team selection, particularly advocating for Forrest to replace fellow Celtic star Anthony Ralston. The call comes amidst concerns over Scotland’s right flank, which Boyd believes needs more offensive firepower to stand any chance against a Swiss team riding high after their 3-1 win over Hungary.

Alongside the Forrest-for-Ralston switch, Boyd is championing for Billy Gilmour to step in for Ryan Christie and Grant Hanley to take over from the suspended Ryan Porteous.

He wrote in The Sun: “Where I can’t see much change is in the line-up, simply because Clarke doesn’t have that many options. But I would make three – Grant Hanley for the suspended Porteous, Billy Gilmour for Ryan Christie and James Forrest for Anthony Ralston.

“The change in central defence is obvious, but I also believe we need more on the right flank. No disrespect to Ralston, who has stayed fit despite not playing a lot for Celtic, but he would be nowhere near this squad if Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson were available.

“Forrest offers a more attacking option and would bring us up the pitch in a Game we must get something from.”

With the pressure mounting and Scotland’s Euro dreams teetering on the edge, the nation will be watching eagerly to see what Clarke decides to do.

Will the Forrest fire burn bright against the Swiss? Only time will tell, but one thing is clear, Steve Clarke needs to make some changes.
