Allen Iverson is one of the most influential and cultutally-important NBA players of his generation.

Although he never won a championship, Iverson came a lot closer to doing so than he probably should have in 2001 when he ruined the Los Angeles Lakers’ perfect playoff run in the NBA Finals.

Because of Iverson’s unique place in hoops lore, he is uniquely qualified to talk about all things basketball.

This past week, Iverson answered an important question: who is the next face of the NBA going to be?

In Iverson’s estimation, it is definitely going to be Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.

“Luka is crazy man,” Iverson said.

“His skill set is just ridiculous. This guy is scoring 70 man. Like, it’s so wide open. If you beat your man, then where’s the help? The center a lot of times is not staying under the basket. It’s just hard to guard Luka one-on-one.”

Because of how good he has been since entering the league, people forget that Doncic is still just 25 years old. He has many more years of dominance in the NBA left ahead of him.

This season Doncic has been averaging 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 9.8 assists per Game. He is one of the league’s top MVP candidates.

In addition, Doncic’s Mavericks are playing some of their best basketball of the season just as the playoffs are approaching.

Will 2024 mark the year Doncic claims his first career title and officially cements himself as the face of the NBA? An answer one way or the other is coming in the next few months.
