Celtic defender Alistair Johnston took to social media with a bit of humour following his unusual equaliser in the 2-1 comeback win against Ross County. The Canadian international poked fun at himself after the ball deflected off him and into the net for Celtic’s first goal, acknowledging it wasn’t exactly a masterclass in finishing.

Quoting a line from the 90s comedy Happy Gilmore, Johnston joked, “It’s all in the hips,” referencing the famous scene from the film where Chubs [The Late Carl Weathers] was teaching Happy Gilmore [Adam Sandler] how to play Golf. The self-deprecating post suggests Johnston is well aware that luck played a bigger role than any refined touch.

The defender’s equaliser came after Celtic had struggled to break down a disciplined Ross County side. A powerful shot from captain Callum McGregor ricocheted off Johnston, leaving the keeper with no chance, and sparked Celtic’s late revival.

Johnston’s light-hearted response on social media has been well-received by fans, who appreciated his humour and attitude following the scrappy goal. While it may not have been a textbook finish, it was a crucial moment in keeping Celtic’s perfect league record intact.

The match also saw a dramatic winner from Nicholas Kuhn to make it seven wins out of seven for Celtic in the league. Next up is Aberdeen who are on the same points as Celtic after an incredible start to the season.
