A Test of Endurance: Antelope’s Day Takes a Turn from Bad to Worse, Fleeing Wild Dogs, Escaping a Crocodile, and Facing an Angry Hippo
This antelope’s day went from bad to worse when it was chased by wild dogs and then stalked by a crocodile – before being attacked by an angry hippo.
The young animal fled into a waterhole when its herd was chased by a pack of ravenous wild dogs at Ngala Private Game Reserve in South Africa.

But after jumping into a waterhole in Ngala Private Game Reserve, it was immediately stalked by a crocodile lurking just beneath the surface (pictured)
The young antelope escaped the jaws of the crocodile only to run into the path of a furious hippo which tried repeatedly to bite the frightened animal
Eventually, the antelope managed to run off – and waited in the water for the wild dogs to leave.

The tiny animal was forced to leap into a waterhole to try to escape the ravenous dogs – but there was more danger around the corner
Wrong turn: The antelope swam away from a crocodile’s deadly jaws but was forced to make another swift u-turn after running into this enraged hippo
After repeated attempts to bite the antelope, the hippo gave up, allowing the poor animal to run off to safety
‘A raft of hippopotamus had already been agitated by the playful and cheeky nature of the dogs, who had earlier taunted the hippos, and one individual clearly had enough.

The wild dogs waited around in the hope that the antelope would leave the water – but they eventually got bored and wandered off
