If the Los Angeles Lakers are to progress to the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, they will have to do it the hard way after losing the first three Games of the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets. And their hopes of staying alive could be further damaged in Game 4 by the possible absence of nine-time All-Star Anthony Davis.

Why could Davis miss Game 4 against Denver? What injury does he have?

Despite being on the losing team on each occasion, center Davis has been the leading points scoring on either side in all three Games against the Nuggets (32 in Game 1, tied with Nikola Jokic, 32 in Game 2 and 33 in Game 3).

But there is a real chance Davis could end up with a grand total of 0 points in Game 4 on Saturday after he picked up an injury.

The 31-year-old is rated as questionable on the most recent injury report because of a left wrist sprain, which means a late decision will be made on whether he plays or not. Davis’ absence would be a crushing blow for the Lakers, who are looking to become the first team in NBA history to come back from 0-3 in a best-of-seven playoffs series.

Lakers updated injury report: LeBron, Wood, Hood-Schifino, Reddish, Vanderbilt...

As has been the case all season, LeBron James is listed as probable because of “peroneal tendinopathy” in his left ankle, although he will take to the court unless something completely unexpected occurs.

Christian Wood, who has been out since February after undergoing surgery on his left knee, has been upgraded to questionable, although Los Angeles will be wary of rushing him back after a lengthy absence.

Jalen Hood-Schifino (lumbar disc), Cam Reddish (ankle) and Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) have been out of action for a few weeks and will remain on the sidelines for the weekend game at Crypto.com Arena.
