The European Championships have come as a welcomed distraction to what otherwise has been a relatively stagnant summer in the world of Celtic.

Transfer activity has been minimal with no confirmed arrivals or departures yet, but things may ramp up over the next few weeks.

The Bhoys play out their maiden pre-season friendly in a fortnight as they Travel to face Scott Brown’s Ayr United at Somerset Park but before that, the players will report back to Lennoxtown.

CeltsAreHere understands the champions will return to the training ground for the new campaign at the end of next week, with players expected to trickle back over Thursday and Friday. This excludes anyone who has been on international duty this summer or, of course, is still away representing their country.

The likes of Liam Scales, Alistair Johnston, Callum McGregor, and Daizen Maeda won’t be back next week, but we can assume players such as Matt O’Riley, Maik Nawrocki, Kyogo, Tomoki Iwata, and Nicolas Kuhn will.

With players beginning to get into the groove for 2024/25, we may similarly see an increase in activity in Celtic’s recruitment.

There are key areas of the squad which need addressing, and fans want quality additions that bring added strength to a double-winning team.
