When is the 2024 Solheim Cup? How to watch on TV and stream online

Team USA takes on Team Europe in the 2024 Solheim Cup, which will be played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, United States between Friday, September 13 and Sunday, September 15. Led by captain Stacy Lewis, the U.S. will be looking to win the trophy for the first time since 2017. Last year’s event in Spain ended in a tie, meaning Europe retained the cup.

Why is the Solheim Cup being held in back-to-back years?

In normal circumstances, the event takes place every two years, although this will be the second time since the turn of the millennium it has been played in back-to-back years.

The tragic events of 9/11 caused the Solheim Cup and the Ryder Cup, the men’s equivalent, to be shifted around on the calendar at the start of the 2000s, with history repeating itself as a consequence of the covid-19 pandemic. Now, we are back to where we started with both tournaments, with the Solheim Cup taking place in even-numbered years, and the Ryder Cup in odd-numbered years.

The 2024 Solheim Cup will be shown in the United States by a combination of Golf Channel, NBC, Peacock and the NBC Sports App. This is the schedule for the three days at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club:

A brief Solheim Cup history

Team USA won the first ever Solheim Cup, played at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Florida in 1990.

Since then, there have been another 17 editions of the event up until 2023. The United States won four of the first five tournaments and lead 10-8 overall, but only two of the last seven.

Europe have won two of the last three meetings between the teams on American soil, the most recent of which saw them prevail 15-13 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
