Come 27 June 2024, FX’s hit comedy-drama series The Bear will return with Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto’s (played by Jeremy Allen White) culinary adventures in the homestead, as the young chef navigates the challenges of running his family’s beef shop in Chicago after his brother’s death. Spend a day or two in his shoes at these iconic filming locations of The Bear.

The first two seasons focused on Carmy’s transition from the high-pressure world of Michelin-starred restaurants to the heart-wrenching realities of owning and running a local sandwich shop. Fans have spotted shooting and production of The Bear in this low-key neighbourhood that houses one of the largest populations of Ukrainians in the US. The area is famed for its Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Ukrainian National Museum, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedra, and Saints Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church. If you find yourself in the neighbourhood, make sure to grab a bite at Shokolad Pastry & Cafe, Tryzub Ukrainian Kitchen, and Old Lviv.

Armour Square/Bridgeport

According to a report in WBEZ Chicago, several permits were issued in late February in the Bridgeport and Armour Square area under code names like “Marcus’s mom’s house” and “Marcus driving scene”. The two residential neighbourhoods are over a km apart and are touted for their bustling cafes, dim sum spots, Japanese teahouses, and verdant parks.

With fans prying for peeks into the upcoming season, the show’s makers are going the extra mile to conceal potential spoilers. They installed bright pink fliers on street lamps and buildings that read ‘Kubelik’ – but fans were quick to crack the code and made it to some of The Bear filming locations. More recent permits are labelled “C – W” or “SSH – F” to avoid giving away the actual locations.
