Victor Osimhen signs new Napoli contract with release clause
Napoli have confirmed that striker Victor Osimhen has signed a new contract with the club running until 2026.
The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move away from Naples after announcing himself as one of the world's leading forwards during their Scudetto-winning 2022/23 season.
He stayed put at Napoli over the summer but contract talks rumbled long into the winter, with his previous deal expiring in 2025.
But Napoli have now confirmed Osimhen has signed a new contract running until 2026, but this deal crucially contains a release clause. 90min understands this figure at its lowest is €120m, but various conditions - such as when it is activated - could see that sum increase.
90min reported in November that Chelsea were ready to test Napoli's resolve with a January bid amid Osimhen's previous contract stand-off. The 24-year-old is the Blues' top striker target, with Brentford's Ivan Toney and Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez among others they have considered in the recent past.
Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal during the summer transfer window, and while he has scored a respectable eight goals in 19 Games across all comPetitions, he has equally proved a frustrating presence up front with his wasteful finishing.
Marquee signing Christopher Nkunku has recently returned to the first-team fold after a long-term knee injury and is also capable of playing as a number nine if necessary.
Academy graduate Armando Broja is also back to full fitness after various injury provlems of his own.
