The Gilbert parents came up with this unique nail polish idea, matching the first letter of each baby’s name with the first letter of the corresponding nail polish shade. This ingenious approach not only helps them tell the triplets apart but has also become a fashion statement.

Karen, a 33-year-old mother, shared, “It’s not just a fashion statement; we really struggle to tell them apart. We came up with the nail polish idea, and it works like a charm. It makes life a lot easier when it comes to our daily routine of feeding, bathing, and diaper changing. The color coding helps us remember who has had what.”

Karen and her husband Ian, who is a company director, meticulously matched the first letter of each baby’s name with the nail polish color to ensure they always get it right. They hope that as the little girls grow older, they will develop individual looks and personalities to make distinguishing them even easier.

Remarkably, the triplets were conceived naturally from a single egg, against odds of 160,000-1, according to the Multiple Births Foundation. Their first birthday was celebrated after a year filled with unique challenges and joys. The Gilbert family, based in Pontypool, goes through over 120 diapers and 84 bottles of formula milk each week.

Despite the challenges, the trio has already begun their journey in the limelight, making appearances on TV shows like Casualty and the family drama Stella. They are so identical that they can play the same baby on screen, and they get rotated during scenes to prevent one baby from becoming too tired.

Karen, a full-time mother, remarked, “They were all TV stars before they reached the age of one. They are lovely little girls who have already brought us so much joy – in triplicate.”

Their local supermarket, Morrisons, has even ordered a shopping trolley with a triple baby seat to assist the family. Karen and Ian admit that getting all three girls ready to leave the house resembles a “Military operation,” but they wouldn’t have it any other way. The girls take turns being fed, changed, and dressed, and their colored toenails serve as a helpful reminder of who has had what done.
