“That Helps us a lot” – Liam Scales on Brendan Rodgers’ Influence in Title Run in
Celtic’s Liam Scales has highlighted manager Brendan Rodgers’ pivotal role in managing the pressure on the team as Celtic enters the title run-in, where no slip-ups can be afforded.
With a potential title decider derby approaching at Celtic Park this Saturday, the stakes are exceptionally high. A victory for Celtic would extend their lead over Rangers to six points with only two matches left in the season, whereas a win for Rangers would level the teams, making goal difference a potential title decider.
Scales attributes his and his teaMMAtes’ ability to cope with the high stakes largely to Rodgers’ leadership.
“He’s great and he instils belief in all of us,” said Scales, quoted by the National. “You might be feeling a bit of pressure and he’ll just take it away, calm it down, and show why we’re here and really make us believe in ourselves. So, that’s a good trait and it helps us a lot.
“I feel like I’m alright under pressure. I think most people are at this level, I think it’d be hard to get to a certain level if you struggle under pressure.
“I feel like most people here are good under pressure and we’ve a squad full of players who have a good mentality. That really helps, we’re all here together, there’s no bad eggs, no one against us, we’re all here and we’re all one unit working towards the same goal and that’s what helps us most.”
The pressure is on Celtic to secure a win here at the weekend, but they must let it get to them. But the whole of Celtic Park will be behind the team, just like they were last weekend against Hearts.
Six points would all but secure another league championship for the Bhoys, making it three in a row.
