The next Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park is certainly going to be one of the biggest in recent times.

The potential of the fixture to either effectively end the title race or make it even closer depends on whether or not Celtic wins or loses the fixture.

Win it, and the league is all but a formality. Lose it and a lot will ride on Celtic picking up maximum points from Kilmarnock and St Mirren and putting in a big scoreline to boost the goal difference.

But for Celtic to beat Rangers, we need our best players firing and that is exactly what we saw on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Hearts.

Stuart McCall wants Rangers to ‘sort out’ Callum McGregor

Former Rangers midfielder, Stuart McCall, has said that for Rangers to have any chance of pulling off a result, they will need to put the shackles on Celtic captain, Callum McGregor.

The Hoops midfielder looked back to his best on Saturday and has been superb in past derbies. That’s why McCall reckons that the Celtic captain will need to be kept quiet.

McCall said [Scottish Football Podcast], “If, like people were saying yesterday that McGregor was back to his best for Celtic, apparently, and was pulling the strings.

“I’d like to see somebody to go and sort him out and, for me, Sterling can do that.

“He can go and play and sit on somebody who’s going to try to dictate the tempo of the Game.

“But normally that’s a Cantwell or Lawrence who’s going to sit on a deeper midfield.”

I’m sorry but there is more than one player that Rangers will need to keep a close eye on than McGregor. Matt O’Riley is looking very good now and Reo Hatate has been excellent at helping provide that creative spark since his return from injury.

We also have Daizen Maeda who is James Tavernier’s worst nightmare and then, of course, Kyogo Furuhashi who has scored seven goals in the twelve times he has faced Rangers.

Celtic have so many threats in the team focusing on just one player will open up our rivals to other dangers that Brendan Rodgers’ side pose.

So yeah, focus solely on Callum, please. I’m sure that Game plan will work like it has before.
