Rebel Wilson admits she used Ozempic to help lose weight: Those drugs ‘can be good’
Rebel Wilson revealed she briefly used Ozempic to help with her weight loss.
The “Pitch Perfect” actress admitted she dabbled with the type 2 diabetes drug for maintenance after shedding 80 pounds.
“Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good,” she said during a new interview with the Sunday Times, adding she no longer uses the celebrity favorite drug.
The 44-year-old embarked on her “year of Health” in 2020 after talking to a fertility doctor who told her she had a better chance of a successful IVF if she lost weight.
“Basically no one apart from my mom wanted me to lose weight,” she continued. “People thought I’d lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that.”
The actress decided to take on the challenge for herself, starting slowly with long walks and a low-sugar, high-protein diet.
Eventually, she worked her way up to two-and-a-half hour workout sessions, consisting of running up the steps of the Sydney Opera House in Australia and doing “crazy” cardio sessions.

“It so felt good that I kept going,” Wilson added.
Regularly talking to a doctor about her diet was also a pivotal point for the “Bridesmaids” star’s journey as she dealt with emotional eating.
“I wasn’t dealing with my emotions properly, I was just stuffing my face and holding on to them,” she told the outlet.
After reaching her goal weight, Wilson said she is now at a comfortable weight where she feels “curvy and solid,” adding she’s even experienced “positive reinforcement” in the ways she is treated.
The “Senior year” star has been candid about her journey, even admitting in June 2023 that she gained weight after welcoming her daughter, Royce Lillian, via surrogate with her fiancée, Ramona Agruma, in November 2022.
“Now I can’t go to the gym as often as I used to; I’m just not working out as much, so that has slowed me down,” she told the Daily Mail, adding she’s also suffered from “lack of sleep.”
In January, she also took to social media to reveal she gained 30 pounds while “working 7 days a week” writing her forthcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising,” directing a movie in Australia and filming an action movie in Savannah.
Reflecting on the stress from her busy schedule, she wrote, “It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does.
“I’m really proud of the work I’ve been doing on new movies and my memoir, it’s just been a LOT and I’ve lost focus on my healthy lifestyle.”
Wilson is expected to detail more about her weight loss in her book, which will be released on April 2.
Excerpts from the book that have already been released revealed that she lost her virginity at 35, accused Sacha Baron Cohen of on-set humiliation, which he denied, and claimed Adele hates her.
