Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, linked with Brazil, says his future “will soon be known”
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has dropped the latest hint on his future, saying it “will soon be known” where he ends up. His current contract runs out in June 2024 and as result, speculation as to where he might end up has been rife throughout the season so far.
Links to the Brazilian National Team, who regularly call up Real Madrid players such as Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militão, have persisted and various players have even talked about wanting the Italian coach - who previously took charge of Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015 - to join up with the side. Ednaldo Rodrigues, the President of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) recently said that “I have [Ancelotti] as a plan A. I’m talking for the first time in a very open way and it doesn’t make sense to hide my preference”.
Ancelotti wanted as long-term option
Ahead of Real Madrid’s game against Cádiz in LaLiga, Ancelotti was asked about his contract situation, and whether or not he would be joining Brazil or signing a new deal in Spain, something else which has been suggested this week.
Fluminense boss Fernando Deniz is currently the interim manager of Brazil: he won the Copa Libertadores with his club side but despite the success, the CBF are still looking for a more long-term appointment.
Ancelotti comments on Brazil rumours
“I’m proud that one of the best international teams in the world like Brazil is linked to me”, said Ancelotti when directly asked about the situation, “that gives me a lot of pride. But I have a contract [at Real Madrid] until 30 June.”
In typical fashion, Ancelotti’s calm, clear and respectful answer that responded to the question was not enough. He was pressed again, saying that “I repeat, my future will soon be known. I am here for at least six more months. Am I waiting until the last day of my contract for a renewal offer from Real Madrid? Yes.”
Real Madrid take on Cádiz in LaLiga EA Sports on Sunday 26 November, KO 12.30 p.m. ET / 9.30 a.m. PT.
