Raphael Varane reveals impact of Cristiano Ronaldo interview on Man Utd teammates
Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has acknowledged that Cristiano Ronaldo's controversial interview comments have 'affected' the players.
In a wide-ranging interview which is not yet fully released, Ronaldo took aim at both Erik ten Hag and the Glazer family, stressing his unhappiness with his treatment by those in charge at Old Trafford.
Sources have confirmed to 90min that United officials were left 'furious' by Ronaldo's comments, and Varane has now revealed the impact the interview has had on the players.
"Obviously it affects us. We follow what is happening and what is being said," he told Europe 1. "We try to calm the situation in our own way, we try not to get too involved in it."

Varane also insisted that he would have no problem with whatever decision the club choose to take in terms of punishment, which could range from a fine, to a sale or even a contract termination if Ronaldo is found to have breached the terms of his agreement with United.
"What happens with the media is big clubs generate lots of momentum. When it's a star like Cristiano Ronaldo, even more, so we try to take it with distance, that is to say that we do not try to change the situation alone, we are part of a collective," he explained.
"What I want is the best for my team so whatever the decision, as a player, we will accept it and give the best of ourselves."
