Bronny James’ decision to enter the 2024 NBA Draft surprised a lot of people.

In his freshman campaign with USC the youngster averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.

Those aren’t exactly NBA-level numbers.

So why did Bronny make the decision that he ultimately made and will it pay off?

Paul Pierce appeared on Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’ this past week and offered his brutally honest take.

“This is the weakest draft class known in my lifetime. This is the perfect opportunity to do this,” Pierce said.

“There’s no impact players out there that’ll change a team’s fortune right now. There’s no player that’s going to make a difference next year. This is a great opportunity for him to come out whether he’s drafted or a free agent.”

Pierce’s hunch about the Lakers seems to be grounded in reality. There are currently two NBA teams being viewed as frontrunners for his services.

According to Rachel Nichols’ recent appearance on Fox Sports, L.A. has a plan in place when it comes to Bronny.

“It depends on part on what LeBron James, Bronny James, and Savannah James want,” Nichols said on ‘Undisputed’ last week.

“Because if they want him to play in the NBA and LeBron wants him to play a year with him and Bronny wants that… Then he will play in the NBA on the Lakers next year because Jeanie Buss has a History of treating her star players like stars, doing what they want.”

Will Bronny ultimately be a member of the Lakers this time next year? Time will tell.
