Celtic return to Scottish Premiership action this weekend against St Mirren as they continue their fight for a third successive title.

Last time out, the Bhoys recorded what could prove to be a valuable draw in a six-goal thriller away to Rangers at Ibrox, where Daizen Maeda, Matt O’Riley and Adam Idah ensured we still have our destiny intact this season.

Brendan Rodgers noted before the clash that his Celtic side had more or less a clean bill of Health for the first time in a while, which hopefully hasn’t changed too much following a bruising Glasgow Derby affair.

Club captain Callum McGregor made his highly-anticipated return from injury just after the hour mark in Govan, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to replace Tomoki Iwata from the start on Saturday afternoon.

Idah and Paulo Bernardo’s positive contributions could put them in contention for more first-team action, though it is hard to see Rodgers rotating his squad too much, as continuity is likely to take precedence during the run-in.

St Mirren arrive in Glasgow with just one Scottish Premiership victory in their last five encounters. They will be without Hyeokkyu Kwon, who is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Nevertheless, the Buddies have enjoyed an excellent campaign under Stephen Robinson, securing a top-six finish, and they are still in contention for a European qualification slot.

Saturday afternoon is drawing closer as we all anticipate this weekend’s fixture, where Celtic can guarantee their place at the league summit with a victory, which would apply pressure on Rangers ahead of their trip to Ross County on Sunday.

Peter Stuart has been appointed as the fourth official for this occasion. On VAR duty, David Dickinson is the principal operative, supported by Gary Hilland in case any on-field drama requires a second pair of eyes.

Tickets to watch Celtic take on St Mirren are now sold out, meaning a capacity home crowd will back the Bhoys as they search for three crucial points in the Scottish Premiership title race, which they can hopefully secure!
