New York Philharmonic plays Bradley Cooper’s ‘Maestro’ at Lincoln Center while Carey Mulligan sings
It was an Upper West Side story.
The New York Philharmonic, led by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, celebrated Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-nominated “Maestro” film by performing selections by its subject, composer Leonard Bernstein, at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall this week.
Nézet-Séguin was also a consultant on the film which has been nominated for seven Oscars.
Cooper’s co-star Carey Mulligan was also present for the Valentine’s Day event, along with Anna Wintour, Spike Lee, Candice Bergen, Christopher Meloni, Sam Smith, Victor Garber, Matthew Modine, Tovah Feldshuh, Gina Gershon and Ellen Burstyn, among others.
The Philharmonic performed pieces from “West Side Story,” “On the Town” and Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2 and No. 3.
Mulligan – who plays Bernstein’s wife, actress Felicia Montealegre, in the movie – also sang during the performance.
She crooned “Façade – An Entertainment: Sir Beelzebub,” the same musical number her character performs for a TV show in the hit biopic.
The movie’s Mallory Portnoy, Nick Blaemire, Zachary Booth and Kate Eastman also performed selections from the film for the Lincoln Center crowd, which also included Sean Young, Celia Weston, Annaleigh Ashford and Hope Davis.
Cooper and the team behind the film then headed over to London for the BAFTA gala over the weekend.
Other celebrities spotted at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards included Margot Robbie, Prince William, Emma Stone, Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt.
