Legendary Post columnist Cindy Adams honored at Gracie Awards Luncheon in NYC for her WABC radio show
Newcomer Cindy Adams apparently has a long career ahead of her.
After the legendary Post columnist won a Gracie Award on Tuesday for hosting her eponymous 77 WABC Radio show, the station’s billionaire boss, John Catsimatidis, told Page Six: “She’s 94, but she’s sharp as a tack and her mind is beautiful. I think I’m going to give her a 20-year contract.”
That’ll also be music to her agent’s ears.
Adams was at the event with Catsimatidis and his wife, Margo, as WABC radio won another honor at the Cipriani 42nd Street awards for host Rita Cosby’s sit-down with Andrew Cuomo as best interview.
Adams spoke from the stage at the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation event about her job at The Post, and joked, we think, that she was here when Alexander Hamilton started it all.
She was told her speech could only be two minutes, to which she replied, “The last man who ever told me I could do just two minutes was on my wedding night!”
(Adams also started her day off with a checkup at uptown NewYork-Presbyterian, joking that she saw “two sides of a life by noontime.”)
The 49th annual Gracie Awards Luncheon was hosted by ABC News’ Deborah Roberts, and presenters included former NFL great Tiki Barber, NBC correspondent Chloe Melas and sports commentator Suzyn Waldman.
Barber said, “I’ve been very fortunate to have been mentored by many women.”
At the Gracie Awards last month in Los Angeles, honorees included Michelle Obama, Glennon Doyle, Selena Gomez, Gayle King, Sydney Sweeney, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Nicole Kidman and Angela Yee.
Along with the A-list honorees, the TV programs “Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi” were among the ceremony’s Gracie winners.
Adams recently celebrated her 94th birthday with guests including NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo, NYC Mayor Eric Adams, Woody Allen, Al Sharpton, Kellyanne Conway and Don Lemon.
