Laver Cup 2024: teams, captains, matches, schedule and results

The long-awaited Tennis comPetition Laver Cup is set for its seventh edition, which will take place this September in Berlin. Team Europe and Team World will vie for the championship title.

Following a format reminiscent of the famous ‘Ryder Cup’, the event will feature six of the finest tennis players from Europe, under the captaincy of Bjorn Borg, pitted against an equally formidable team of six players representing the rest of the world, led by the legendary John McEnroe.

Team Europe

Unfortunately for the viewers and the organizers, Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the Team Europe line-up, but there’s still plenty of star power.

Just a reminder of how the point system functions: Each match win on day 1 is worth one point; on day 2, it’s worth two points; and on day 3, it’s worth three points. The first team to reach 13 points wins the match.

The event will have five sessions over three days, including three-day sessions and two-night sessions. The line-ups for each day will be announced the day before.

On Friday, September 20, there will be a day session starting at 6 a.m. ET with two singles matches, followed by a night session beginning at noon ET with one singles match and one doubles match.

On Saturday, September 21, the day session will start at 6 a.m. ET with two singles matches, followed by a night session at noon ET with one singles match and one doubles match.

Finally, on Sunday, September 22, the day session will start at 5 a.m. ET with one doubles match followed by up to three singles matches if needed. If only one match is required to decide the winner, an exhibition match will be played following the trophy ceremony.
