The final seat on the 2023 Formula 1 grid has been officially claimed by American Logan Sargeant, who will race alongside Alex Albon at Williams.

Sargeant completed the Formula 2 Championship at Abu Dhabi, securing fourth in the Drivers' Championship after finishing in P6 and P5 in the Sprint and Feature races.

Williams Team Principal, Jost Capito, announced Sargeant would join the team on the condition that he would earn enough superlicence points by the end of the season.

The American needs 40 points to earn a superlicence, having previously picked up 27 superlicence points from his season in Formula 3 in 2021 – plus two more bonus points for completing it without incident.

He then earned three more bonus points for completing 100km+ during FP1 sessions at the United States, Brazil, and Abu Dhabi without picking up a reprimand.

Sargeant had to finish within the top seven in the F2 Drivers' Championship, with the fourth place being enough to claim 30 points.
