The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a 128-121 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.

Unfortunately, being defeated wasn’t the only blow L.A. took this weekend.

With just a few seconds left in the first quarter of Saturday’s outing, Anthony Davis suffered an eye injury:

Davis was immediately ruled out for the rest of the Game with a corneal abrasion.

After the game, Lakers coach Darvin Ham offered an unfortunate update regarding Davis’ eye injury.

“Wasn’t able to see out of that left eye, vision blurred,” Ham said.

“Looking at the doctors, they were working on him from the time he left the floor and went back to the training room through halftime. The biggest thing is just making sure he’s OK and we’ll get an update on him pretty soon.”

Davis has been unusually healthy all season. Obviously he has gotten some scrapes and bruises, but he has also played in 64 out of Los Angeles Lakers’ 68 games this year.

This 2023-24 NBA season marks the first time Davis has played in more than 62 games since his 2017-18 season with the New Orleans Pelicans.

That said, this eye injury is definitely concerning.

The Lakers are on thin ice right now with the regular season approaching its conclusion.

A playoff berth is not guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, the likeliest scenario is that they were have to earn two play-in victories just to face off against the No. 1 team in the Western Conference when everything is said and done.
