KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kia Tigers ML over Lotte Giants (-150)

The Lotte Giants did not play on Wednesday morning, so they are still 61-73-4 this season and are still in 7th place in the league standings. The Giants will start Dan Straily, who is 4-1 on the season and has an ERA of 2.12. In 9 starts this season, he has allowed 12 earned runs over 51.0 innings.

The Kia Tigers also did not play on Wednesday morning, so they are still 65-70-1 and in 5th place in the league standings. The Tigers will counter with Thomas Pannone, who is 3-3 and has an ERA of 1.99. In 12 starts he has allowed 16 earned runs over 72.1 innings.

The Tigers are clinging to the final playoff spot and with not many Games remaining, this is a spot where they need to win. Pannone has been consistent all season, so for that reason backing them to win on Thursday will be the play.

NC Dinos vs Samsung Lions – Under 8 runs (+100)

The total looks to be the better play in this matchup because both teams are starting one of their best starters. Drew Rucinski has allowed 4 or more runs in 9 starts this season. He is coming off a solid start, where he allowed just 2 earned runs over 6.0 against the Kia Tigers. In 3 starts against the Lions, he has allowed just 1 earned runs over 21.0 innings.

On the other side, David Buchanan has allowed 4 or more runs in 5 starts. In his last 3 starts he has given up 5 runs (4 earned) over 20.2 innings. In 2 starts against the Dinos he has surrendered 3 earned runs over 12.0 innings. Because both starters have had plenty of success when facing each other, backing the under will be the play.

Kiwoom Heroes vs SSG Landers – Under 8.5 runs (-105)

The total looks to be the better play on Thursday even though Han Hyun-Hee has been a little inconsistent in 2022. He has allowed 4 or more runs in 4 starts and in his last 4 starts he has allowed 7 runs (5 earned) over 25.0 innings. In 5 appearances against the SSG Landers (1 start), he has yielded 3 earned runs over 10.2 innings.

On the other side, Kim Kwang-Hyun has allowed 4 or more runs in 4 starts this season. In his last 3 starts he has allowed 2 earned run over 19.0 innings. In 3 starts against the Heroes he has given up 3 earned runs over 18.0 innings. Given the solid form of both starters and the fact that neither team has played in a couple days, backing the under will be the play.
