The future of Mexican forward Carlos Vela is still up in the air. Although the legendary LAFC player is in talks to try to reach an agreement and stay with the ‘Black & Gold’, there is still nothing sealed.

As previously mentioned, the LAFC board and Vela are doing their part to reach the long-awaited conclusion between the club and player. The fans are on tenterhooks, as they of course want to continue to see Vela wearing the club colours and the captain’s armband that has characterised him for so long as the leader of the team and one of the stars in MLS.

Reports claim Vela to San Jose Earthquakes will be announced soon

However, if the expected agreement is not reached, Vela will have to consider the offers he has on the table from other MLS clubs. There are even direct rivals in the Western Conference going up against LAFC for his signature: the Mexican was the first signing of the 2022 MLS Cup champions and as such feels a strong connection to the team.

In Mexico, Fox Sports journalist Fernando Cevallos revealed that Carlos Vela’s return to Mexican soccer is all but ruled out, leaving his future in the hands of MLS, a league in which he can still sign with any team as he remains a free agent.

Fernando Cevallos then revealed on Fox SportsLa Última Palabra, that confirmation of the Mexican striker’s arrival at San Jose Earthquakes could be announced on Friday 1 March.

The curious thing is that this Friday, March 1, Vela celebrates his 35th birthday, which could be special since it could be the date of the aforementioned potential announcement; equally it could be just another day in the purgatory space-time where Vela and all who love MLS find themselves regarding his future.

In the event that San Jose Earthquakes and Vela end up reaching an agreement, LAFC’s ‘10′ will finally put a bookend on his time with the Black & Gold and will embark on what may be his last adventure in both MLS and international soccer.
