It's time to shake up our Fantasy Premier League midfields, with premium picks Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min absent from action for up to four Gameweeks due to the Africa Cup of Nations and the Asian Cup respectively.
So who should you target as replacements for the absent duo? With the help of Fantasy Football Hub's powerful powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are the best midfielders to target for FPL Gameweek 21.
Bruno Fernandes
- Fixture: Tottenham Hotspur (H); Predicted Points: 5
Bruno Fernandes has underperformed so far this season with just six attacking returns. His underlying numbers demonstrate that more returns should be on the way given he's created a leading 54 chances, with an xA metric of 5.5 this season.
Manchester United's form was mixed during a challenging December schedule, with Tottenham the next visitors to Old Trafford. Spurs have just one clean sheet from their last eight games, conceding 14 goals in this time.
Pascal Gross
- Fixture: Wolves (H); Predicted Points: 5
Given the number of injuries elsewhere, Pascal Gross has become one of the surprise bandwagon picks going into this split gameweek. He is Brighton's top fantasy asset for the campaign and has contributed one assist in the last four gameweeks.
The Germany international's underlying numbers show promise, ranking second for key passes in the last four Gameweeks with 15 thanks to his expertise on set pieces. Brighton's fixture schedule is also appealing, with upcoming Games against Wolves, Luton and Crystal Palace.
Phil Foden
- Fixture: Newcastle United (A); Predicted Points: 4.5
A tricky fixture away at Newcastle United this week sees Phil Foden slip below other FPL options in terms of predicted points, but he remains a fine pick for the long-term with a potential rescheduled fixture for Manchester City looming in the not-so-distant future.
Foden has one goal and three assists from the last four Gameweeks and has had 11 shots on goal in this time. He's also created ten chances in this time, including three big chances. His minutes may reduce in the near future with the re-introduction of Kevin De Bruyne, but his form is so good right now that he remains a top FPL option in Salah and Son's absence.
