Correa makes full-time F2 return three years after tragic Spa crash
Juan Manuel Correa will make a full-time return to Formula 2 in 2023, three years after sustaining major injuries in a tragic crash at Spa-Francorchamps.
Correa underwent a long period of rehabilitation following the multi-car collision in the Feature Race, which claimed the life of Anthoine Hubert.
After suffering serious leg injuries in the incident and undergoing extensive surgery, Correa had to learn how to walk again and remained determined to return to racing.
He made his comeback to Formula 3 for the 2021 season, where he finished 21st in the championship before progressing up to 13th in the 2022 campaign, a year in which he also took a memorable podium at Zandvoort.
Correa went on to make a one-off race weekend appearance for the F2 season finale with the Van Amersfoort Racing team, and he will now join the squad on a full-time basis for 2023.

Correa achieves goal with F2 return
Correa – who will team up with Richard Verschoor at the Dutch outfit – has spoken of the "emotional" achievement of returning to Formula 2.
"Being back full-time in Formula 2 means more to me than most people can imagine," the American-Ecuadorian explained.
"It is not just an achievement in itself to be on this grid, but it also is a realisation of a goal that has been the epicentre of my efforts for the last three years, so it is a very emotional achievement.
"I am super grateful for the opportunity that Van Amersfoort Racing is giving me. I am very hungry, I am very motivated, and I know the team is as well.
"I am sure together we, the team and my teammate Richard, will make a great line-up and create a great working environment for everyone. We will be pushing each other to continuously improve, because we all want to do well this upcoming season."
