This move comes as Hibernian’s persistent pursuit, which included four bids culminating in an £800,000 offer on deadline day, fell short.

At 26, McCowan has already made a significant impact this season, showcasing his ability with two goals and an assist in just three league matches, along with a goal and five assists across five League Cup Games.

Celtic’s interest in McCowan is not just for his immediate contributions on the field but also to fulfil UEFA’s homegrown player requirements for European comPetitions. The addition of McCowan would provide quality depth and local talent to the squad.

As the 11 pm deadline approaches, Celtic’s management is working diligently to conclude the agreement, ensuring that McCowan joins the ranks in time for the remainder of their campaign.

Trusty has already been announced as a Celtic player, with Arne Engels in Glasgow finalising his move.
