British Museum to enter Metaverse, create NFT collectibles
The British Museum is partnering with the Ethereum-based metaverse Game, The Sandbox, to create NFT digital collectibles.
According to a press release, the partnership will “reflect the breadth and depth of The British Museum’s collections,” offering “new immersive experiences.”
The Museum also intends to create its own immersive space within the online game world, as it joins cultural icons in the virtual world alongside Gucci, Snoop Dogg and McDonald's.

“This is a great opportunity for The Sandbox players, regardless of where they are, to learn about the amazing wealth of human History, art, and culture that The British Museum has to offer,” The Sandbox COO and co-founder Sebastien Borget says.
A representative from the Museum has also said that the institution was eager to explore “new and innovative ways of sharing its collection and reaching new audiences.”
The Museum, founded in 1753, has been quick to adopt innovation and Technology, it recently collaborated with LaCollection on three NFT collections.
