The chat surrounding who will start for Celtic against Rangers on Saturday is what’s been on all the Celtic fans’ lips this week.

With much of the team picking itself, most pundits and former players have been talking about who will start in Brendan Rodgers’ front three.

We discussed earlier today how Jim Duffy explained why James Forrest could well be left on the bench this Saturday.

Duffy believes that the Celtic winger could be an effective impact player if Rodgers needs a goal in the last 30 minutes of the game. And he’s not wrong.

However, former Rangers hero, Barry Ferguson, has a different point of view as he admits to feeling scared should Rodgers decide to start Forrest against his old club at Parkhead.

Forrest’s ‘experience’ could help Celtic beat Rangers

With the Celtic squad back to full strength, Rodgers does have options available to him that he’s never had before.

And as the debate rages on whether Forrest should start instead of Nicolas Kuhn, Ferguson shares how he really feels about the Hoops legend if he’s given the nod on Saturday.

Ferguson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I would rather Kuhn [started]. I’ve said it plenty of times, he would worry me, if James Forrest plays.

“He’s got the experience. He’s still got a lot of football left in those legs.

“So if you’re asking me who I think [will start], I think it will be Forrest and Maeda who will start in those wide areas.”

James Forrest’s Celtic record vs Rangers

Barry Ferguson has every reason to be worried about James Forrest facing his old club because his record against them is phenomenal.

In 27 appearances in the Glasgow Derby, Forrest has been on the winning side 18 times. The Celtic legend has drawn four and lost only five in that time.

And whilst his goalscoring record isn’t the best, Forrest’s experience will be crucial in helping Celtic get the three points that will ultimately win this league.

That could be a factor that influences Rodgers’ decision come Saturday but no matter who starts, the Celtic fans will be hoping for a more comfortable afternoon than we saw in the second half of the Ibrox 3-3 draw.
