How has USMNT captain Christian Pulisic been doing with AC Milan?
"Captain America" has fared rather better than compatriot Reyna this season, starting 13 matches in all comPetitions, including three in the Champions League. The former Dortmund attacker has scored four times in Serie A but is still on the hunt for his first European goal for the club he joined in the summer from Chelsea.
(Come on Christian, I've set it up perfectly for you, don't let me down)
Milan team to play Dortmund: Pulisic starts
There is some good news for USMNT fans, though! Christian Pulisic will play from the off and is expected to line up in his favoured position on the left of the attack.
Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernández; Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Adli, Pulisic; Giroud.
How has Gio Reyna been doing with Borussia Dortmund?
USMNT star Reyna will hope to make an impact from the bench at San Siro, with the fact he isn't in the starting line-up not coming as a huge surprise. The 21-year-old missed the start of the season with a foot injury and hasn't been able to get a regular run in the Dortmund team since then, starting only one match and coming off the bench five times since returning to action in September. He has played only 11 minutes in the Champions League, in the latter stages of the win away to Newcastle.
Dortmund team to play Milan: Gio Reyna misses out
Right on cue! Schlotterbeck and Sabitzer have both been passed fit to play and start for the Germans. There's no Gio Reyna, however, although he is on the bench...
Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Sabitzer, Emre Can; Malen, Reus, Bynoe-Gittens; Füllkrug
Early Borussia Dortmund squad news: Nmecha ruled out, Schlotterbeck doubtful
A number of Dortmund players have been struck by both injury and illness in the last week or so. Midfielder Felix Nmecha (hip) and central defender Nikas Süle (ill) have both been ruled out, while fellow German internationals Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi, as well as striker Sébastian Haller, have all been hit by a bug. It is hoped, however, the trio will be available, with the same going for midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who picked up a thigh injury in the weekend win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Milan - Dortmund: the calm before the storm
Another standard social media post to add to my own personal list of "soccer clubs' obligatory pre-match social media posts". Along with videos of the players arriving and the dressing room before the Game, a photo of an empty stadium with the caption "the calm before the storm" is a must.
Box ticked, Milan!
Early AC Milan squad news: Rafael Leão out due to injury
Perhaps the biggest blow for Milan boss Stefano Pioli is Rafael Leão’s absence. The Portuguese winger is one of the Italians’ most dangerous weapons but suffered a thigh injury before the November international break and still isn’t ready to return.
Swiss international Noah Okafor is another attacking absentee, while defenders Pierre Kalulu, Marco Pellegrino and Mattia Caldara are long-term injury victims.
Veteran centre-back Simon Kjaer hasn’t played since the matchday three defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Paris and again looks set to miss out.
Early AC Milan squad news: USMNT midfielder Musah suspended
Milan will be without one half of their USMNT duo for today’s game as Yunus Musah is suspended after receiving three yellow cards in the first four group games. Bad boy.
The midfielder has been in and out of the starting line-up in the first few months of the season, starting nine of and coming off the bench in six of the Rossoneri’s first 17 matches of the campaign.

Which teams have already qualified for the Champions League round of 16?
Who said the Champions League group stage was difficult? Six teams booked their places in the round of 16 with two matches to spare and now *only* have to try to finish top of their respective groups.
- Real Sociedad
- Real Madrid
- Manchester City
- RB Leipzig
- Bayern Munich
Champions league group of death: What results do PSG, Newcastle, Milan and Dortmund need to reach the round of 16?
Now, I don't know how good you are a maths, but I've always been more of a linguist. Anyway, that doesn't matter as Andy is here to explain all the permutations you could possibly need to know for Group F heading into matchdays five and six.
As far as today's Game goes, one thing is clear - if Borussia Dortmund win at San Siro, they will be through to the knockout stage.
How the Champions League Group F table looks
Has this year's "Group of Death" lived up to its billing so far? The best is probably still to come, with just three points separating top from bottom going into the last two matches. That means it's anyone's guess as to who will qualify for the round of 16.
San Siro set for Champions League drama?
I might be jumping the gun and also tempting fate a bit with that "drama" comment, but Group F is just perfectly set up for it on the last two matchdays. And what better place for some to play out that at San Siro in Milan, truly one of world soccer's most iconic stadiums?
What a place!
What time does AC Milan - Borussia Dortmund kick off?
We’ll all have to wait just a little though, as the clash in Italy gets underway at 9:00 p.m. local time, which is 3:00 p.m. ET and 12:00 p.m. PT. Let’s hope you’ve decided to work from home today (those of you who can)…
Over the next 90 minutes or so I’ll be bringing you build-up, team news and plenty more. Let's do this!
Hello and welcome to AC Milan - Borussia Dortmund!
Matchday five of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League group stage is upon and, ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, welcome to the Group of Death! It’s anyone’s guess as to which two of AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United will make it out of Group F alive, although we might have a clearer picture in a few hours’ time.
I’m Roddy and thanks for joining me as USMNT duo Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna (potentially) go head-to-head as Milan face Dortmund at San Siro!
